Update Information: January 18, 2014

Posting by Ron, Sunday, January 19, 2014, 01:06:

Engine Updates

Napoleon 1.3.0 (UCI)
C++ source; Win32/64, Linux32/64
- "much more stronger than the older version (it wins 73% of the matches...)"
- added test suite for determining tactical weaknesses
- the position list used in the suite is from ECM (Encyclopedia of chess middlegames)
- removed some bugs inside LoadGame()
- reimplemented futility pruning using separated conditions for normal and extended futility pruning
- this allows for more readability and for easier tests
- removed deep razoring in order to test other search components in a more focused way
- deep razoring was causing some search instability and needs to be reimplemented
- added SAN (standard algebraic notation) moves support in order to use EPD position such as ECM
- added forced move extension
- added support for "go depth" uci command, also used inside the new test suite
